Private Mario Tabarracci reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego for Recruit Training on 1 December 2003, was assigned to Hotel Company, 2d Recruit Training Battalion, and graduated on 17 February 2004. Upon graduating Recruit Training, he reported to School of Infantry West, Camp Pendleton, CA and was assigned the MOS of 0311.
From May 2004 - October 2008, Private Tabarracci was assigned to 2d Platoon, India Company, 3d Battalion 5th Marines, for duty as a Rifleman. During this period he deployed three times in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM to include Operation PHANTOM FURY, serving in various billets including Automatic Rifleman, Team leader and Squad Leader. Additionally, he completed Assault Climbers Course, Army Basic Airborne School, Infantry Squad Leaders Course, as well as being meritoriously promoted to the rank of Sergeant on 2 August 2007.
In October 2008, Sergeant Tabarracci reported to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego and earned the MOS of 0911. After graduating Drill Instructor School he was assigned to Golf Company, 2d Recruit Training Battalion. During this tour he served as Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and attended the Martial Arts Instructor Course. On 2 July 2011, Sergeant Tabarracci was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
In February 2012, Staff Sergeant Tabarracci reported to Weapons Company, 1st Battalion 3d Marines where he served as the Scout Sniper Platoon Sergeant and deployed to Okinawa, Japan in support of the Unit Deployment Program (UDP). Upon return from deployment Staff Sergeant Tabarracci was assigned as Platoon Sergeant, 1st Platoon, Bravo Company and deployed again in support of the UDP. During this assignment Staff Sergeant Tabarracci attended Career Course, Infantry Unit Leaders Course, and Helicopter Rope Suspension Techniques Master Course.
In June 2015, Staff Sergeant Tabarracci reported to Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center where he served as Mountain Warfare Instructor, Team Leader, and SNCOIC of the Mountain Scout Sniper and Mountain Leaders Sections. During this assignment, Staff Sergeant Tabarracci attended Summer and Winter Mountain Leaders Course, Basic Instructors Course, Basic Ski Instructors Course, Senior Rock and Alpine clinics, Marine Corps Leadership Expedition, Advanced Course and Ground Combat Operations Specialist Course. On 1 September 2016, Staff Sergeant Tabarracci was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.
In August 2018, Gunnery Sergeant Tabarracci reported to Kilo Company, 3d Battalion, 5th Marines as the Company Gunnery Sergeant. During this assignment, Gunnery Sergeant Tabarracci led Kilo Company through the workup and deployment in support of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit. Upon return from deployment, Gunnery Sergeant Tabarracci was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant on 1 March 2020.
In March 2020, First Sergeant Tabarracci reported to Charlie Company, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion as the Company First Sergeant. During this assignment he led Charlie Company through the workup and deployment in support of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit WESTPAC 21.2.
In June of 2022, First Sergeant Tabarracci reported to Headquarters Company, 23d Marine Regiment where he served as the Inspector- Instructor First Sergeant. In April 2024, First Sergeant Tabarracci was promoted to his current rank of Sergeant Major.
In May of 2024, Sergeant Major Tabarracci reported to 1st Network Battalion, and is currently serving as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.
Sergeant Major Tabarracci's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two Gold Star in lieu of third award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Gold Star in lieu of second award and the Combat Action Ribbon.
