Lieutenant Colonel Glenn W. Berdela Jr.
Second Lieutenant Glenn W, Berdela, Jr. reported to Officer Candidates School at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA in June 2006. Upon graduation, he reported to The Basic School at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA, where he attended the Basic Officer Course. After Basic Officer Course, he reported to Communications School at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA, where he attended the Basic Communications Officer Course (MOS 0602). In December 2007, Second Lieutenant Berdela received orders to 8th Communications Battalion, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
While assigned to 8th Communications Battalion, he filled positions as the S-3 Assistant Operations Officer, Information Technology Officer, and Training Officer. In 2009 while assigned to Bravo Company, Data Platoon Commander/ Help Desk Officer-in-Charge, First Lieutenant Berdela deployed with II Marine Expeditionary Force-Forward to Iraq as part of Multi-National Forces West. In 2010 while assigned to Charlie Company, Marine Expeditionary Unit Communications Detachment/ Joint Task Force-Enabler Officer-in-Charge, he deployed with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit on the KEARSARGE Amphibious Ready Group. He was promoted to the rank of Captain during this time.
In July 2011, Captain Berdela received orders to Marine Forces Command I Fleet Marine Forces-Atlantic, Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia where he served as the G-6 Amphibious Command, Control, Communications, and Computers Operations Officer. In August 2012, he was selected to be the Aide-de-Camp for the Commander, Marine Forces Command and Commander, Marine Forces South and then for Commander, Marine Forces Command and Commander, Marine Forces Europe.
In July 2014, Captain Berdela was selected to attend Expeditionary Warfare School at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA and also attended the Advanced Communications Officer Course (MOS 0603).
In July 2015, Captain Berdela received orders to 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he served as the S-6 Communications Officer. In 2016 he deployed with the 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit on the WASP Amphibious Ready Group. He was promoted to Major during this deployment. Upon completion of the deployment, Major Berdela attended the United States Army Space Cadre Course (MOS 0540). In 2017 Major Berdela deployed with 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit as the Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force-Crisis Response-Africa S-6 Communications Officer.
In July 2018 Major Berdela was selected to attend the United States Naval War College's Naval Command and Staff at Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island.
In July 2019 Major Berdela received orders to United States Special Operations Command at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, where he served as the J635 Contingency Operations
and Plans Branch Chief and the J6T Transformation and Innovation Deputy Division Chief. He was also selected to be the Executive Officer and Staff Director to the J6 Director/ Chief Information Officer.
In July 2022, Major Berdela received orders to 2nd Marine Logistics Group at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina to serve as the Assistant Chief of Staff, G-6 Communications Officer. He was promoted to his current rank in Oct 2022.
In June 2024, LtCol Berdela received orders to II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina to serve as the Assistant Chief of Staff, G-6, Operations Officer.
LtCol Berdela holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Information Technology with a Minor in Computer Science from DeSales University and a Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College.
LtCol Berdela's personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal ( 4th Award), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. He is also the recipient of the 2011 Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association and the United States Naval Institute Copernicus Award; the 2012 Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association District of Columbia's Marine Corps Officer Leadership Award, and the 2012 Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association Hampton Road's Cyber Military Professional of the Month (August).
LtCol Berdela is married to Mrs. Julia Berdela, and they have a daughter, Mia, and a son, Deacon.
