Mr. Thomas P. Dewyea
Upon graduating from Cal State University, Fullerton, in May 1989, Mr. Dewyea completed PLC Seniors, and was commissioned July 14, 1989.
Mr. Dewyea attended the Basic School, Hotel Co., 1-90, graduating in April of 1990. The following week he reported to the Basic Communications Officer Course, at Quantico. After completion of BCOC he reported to 7th Communication Battalion, Okinawa. He served as Multi‐channel Radio, and Radio Platoon Commander, Alpha Co., Executive Officer, and Commander Headquarters Company.
Mr. Dewyea transferred to Mountain Warfare Training Center to serve as S‐6 Officer. While at MWTC he augmented into the regular Marine Corps, and was promoted to Captain. Following his tour at MWTC he attended Advanced Communications Officer Course, and a tour with 3d Marine Division (97‐ 01). While with 3d MarDiv, he served as Communication Company Executive Officer, Headquarters Battalion Operations Officer, S6 and Headquarters Company Commander, 4th Marine Regiment, and Commanding Officer Communication Company. During this tour he was promoted to Major and completed his Intermediate Level School through the College of Continuing Education.
In 2001, he returned to Communication Officers School to serve as Course Coordinator for both BCOC (01‐04) and ACOC in (04‐05). During this tour he volunteered as an augment to Special Operations Command Central, Tampa FL, serving as the J6 Plans Officer during the build‐up and initial phases of Iraqi Freedom, serving in Qatar and Iraq.
In June 2005 Mr. Dewyea transferred to 2d Marine Division to serve as the Deputy G6. During this tour he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, deployed to Iraq, August through February, serving at Blue Diamond and Fallujah. Mr. Dewyea remained at Camp Lejeune when he transferred to Marine Corps Installations East, in 2008 to serve in the G6 Department. While with MCIEast he served as a division director, completed a Masters in Management and Leadership, and received certification as a Chief Information Officer, through the National Defense University, Information Resources Management College.
In 2011 Mr. Dewyea was transferred to the US Embassy in Kuwait where he served as an advisor to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense, J3 and J6. Following this one‐year assignment, Mr. Dewyea returned to Camp Lejeune to serve as the Deputy G6, II MEF. Upon arrival, he was reassigned from duties as the MEF Deputy G6 to become the G6 for 2d Marine Division. After a year as the Division G6 Mr. Dewyea retired from active duty, August 2013, with 24 years active service.
In October of 2013 he was hired as contractor to work in support of the Division G3. After 18 months in his position with Booz Allen Hamilton, the contract expired. Two months later he was hired under a new contract and new company, to support the MEF G3. After a year with G3 Current Operations he was hired as a civil servant with MCIEast G6. He served as a division director for two divisions before being transitioned to the 2d Network Battalion in March 2021 to serve as Deputy Commander.
