Sergeant Major Erin E. Carpenter enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on 05 June 2006 and competed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. Private First Class Carpenter attended Financial Management Course and was assigned the MOS of 3432, Financial Technician. In December 2006, Private First Class Carpenter reported to Combat Logistics Regiment 17, 1st Marine Logistics Group, Camp Pendleton, California.
In January 2010, Corporal Carpenter reported to the Finance Office, Mobilization Command, New Orleans, Louisiana. Sergeant Carpenter deployed with Marine Central Command from January 2011 to January 2012 to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait in support of Operation New Dawn.
In August 2013, Sergeant Carpenter reported to Headquarters Regiment, 1st Marine Logistics Group, Camp Pendleton, California. From July 2014 to October 2015 Staff Sergeant Carpenter was assigned to 1st Marine Logistics Group Corporal Course as the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge.
In October 2015, Staff Sergeant Carpenter reported to Parris Island, South Carolina for Drill Instructor duty where she served the billets of Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and Chief Drill Instructor.
In April 2018, Gunnery Sergeant Carpenter reported to Officer Candidates School, Quantico, Virginia where she served as a Sergeant Instructor, Platoon Sergeant, Academics Instructor, and Company Gunnery Sergeant.
In August 2020, Gunnery Sergeant Carpenter reported to Security Battalion, Marine Corps Base Quantico Finance Office. She served as Pay Section Staff Non-Commissioned Officer until she was selected to be the Company First Sergeant in December 2020. First Sergeant Carpenter served as the Company First Sergeant for Service Company, Security Battalion, Marine Corps Base Quantico.
In December 2022, First Sergeant Carpenter reported to 3d Battalion, 2d Marines, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. In March 2024, she deployed on the Unit Deployment Program Hawaii 24.2, she returned from deployment August 2024.
In March 2026, Sergeant Major Carpenter reported to 2d Network Battalion and is currently serving as the Senior Enlisted Leader.
Sergeant Major Carpenter has a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. Her personal awards include (4) Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, (2) Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals.
